Joanne Goh
Scolio-Pilates® Instructor
Scoliosis Exercise | Breathing | Posture | Movement Control
Joanne Goh began her movement journey through a 200-hour yoga instructor training, where she developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between breathing, movement and body awareness.
Living with scoliosis herself led Joanne to explore ways of adapting movement to her own spinal asymmetries. This eventually brought her to Scolio-Pilates®, a structured scoliosis-focused movement approach that uses breathing, positioning, postural awareness, stability and movement control.
Her teaching philosophy centres on “Back to Basics”, beginning with breathing as a foundation before gradually developing stability and control in different positions, including lying, sitting, quadruped and standing. She draws parallels with the natural progression of human movement development, emphasising that control and confidence are built progressively rather than rushed.
Joanne incorporates Scolio-Pilates® principles into exercise, yoga, daily activities and gym-based movement, helping participants better understand how to adapt movement to their individual scoliosis presentation.
She has also completed BSPTS Schroth Basic Level training, adding further scoliosis-specific exercise principles to her movement background.
